Nice post. I think the scripture you link to the word knowledge comes to ming more than anything when I read posts by many "intellectuals" on the net. So many think they are wise with knowledge they have aquired, yet they lack simple truths. But then I look at President Hinckley in amazement at all his knowledge AND wisdom.

I think also I can enjoy the experience my my childrens' wild temper tantrums and learn from them more ;)

While such an interpretation seems to work from a modern perspective, such was not the case for ancient times. While Jewish custom and thought usually considered life beginning at a child's first breath, the value of that life was considered unactualized until the child was accepted by the parents, especially the father. In the Mediteranian world of Jesus (where the urge to become like a child is dervied) further pushed this idea of children being valueless until accepted by the parents (which was usually signified with embrace, touch, and coddling). Like Christ's teachings on the poor, oppressed, sinners, sick, and outcase, his teaching to become like children should be understood in the same light. To become like a child is to be a nothing, to be an outcast without value. It is not the might and powerful that compose the make up the Kingdom of God, but the weak, lost, and oppressed of the world.
