Somebody has put together a website for what they’ve termed NaBoMoReMo (National Book of Mormon Reading Month). The idea is to encourage people to read the Book of Mormon in its entirety during the month of December (thanks to Ben for spreading the word).
LDS faithful will no doubt recall President Hinckley’s challenge two years ago. While his challenge allotted three months for the exercise, NaBoMoReMo encourages people to read the book in one month’s time.
Pres. Hinckley extended a promise with his challenge, that I’m sure would apply to any reading of the Book of Mormon. The promise stipulated three blessings:
- There will come into your lives and into your homes an added measure of the Spirit of the Lord
- A strengthened resolution to walk in obedience to His commandments
- A stronger testimony of the living reality of the Son of God
I look forward to reading the book straight through, one of the methods Elder Bednar proposed in February for drinking from the living waters.

#1 David on November 30th, 2007Tempting. I just finished a challenge that we made for our young men - marking the 5th such Book of Mormon reading challenge I have completed in the last 3 years.
I’m not going to publicly commit to this, but I am strongly considering a private goal to participate.
