November Surprise

election

Still unsure as to how to vote during the upcoming election? Well, it would seem that the GOP, in a last-ditch maneuver to retain power, is delaying their October Surprise until November. November 5th, be to exact.

Sadaam is evidently to be sentenced just two days before the midterm elections.

“That November 5 date is designed to show some progress in Iraq. This is the last full news-cycle day in the US before the elections. It’ll be Monday. And the American public will see Saddam condemned to death and see it as a positive thing.”

“When you look at polling figures,” Horton said,” there have been three significant spike points. One was the date on which Saddam was captured. The second was the purple fingers election. The third was Zarqawi being killed. Based on those three, it’s easy to project that they will get a mild bump out of this.”

Couple this event with the armada of ships arriving off the coast of Iran and we’ve got some major potential for a “November Surprise”.

FDR once said that “In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way”.

Truer words were never spoken.

The Saddam timing thing is pretty flagrant. I read a commentary recently where an author gave his opinion that the armada being sent to the Persian Gulf may be less “November surprise” and more “get things done before there is an unfriendly congress and wars will be more difficult to start.” That armada, by the way, was scheduled to arrive in the Gulf last saturday.
In any case, it seems like we are about to embark on another war with the potential extinction of the species of the human race at risk.

It’s so obvious that this administration made a tragic error with the invasion of Iraq. There is such an arrogance to assume that we, as Americans, have all the answers for other nations. Especially a nation whose culture and history is so varied from our own.

The Republicans will lose the Senate and Congress. People are showing their dissatisfaction though the ballot box!
