Dang, I'm kinda let down. I figured it had to be intentional, and it probably had a great story behind it, and it'd be so cool that, ah, well, you get the idea... :P

I think this is the third time I’ve seen you write it with “off.” Do you have a reason for using it this way?

Actually, this is the second time, the first being used on my Invisible Children post. But both times I've used it incorrectly, as you point out. I'm not sure where that originated from, but thanks for pointing out my error. I've fixed it now. :)

I haven't been reading your site for very long, and so I don't know if this is in tentional on your part, maybe a regional thing, but you always seem to use this phrase "in getting off his feet" *backwards* from my point of view.

In helping someone to get their life together, I have always taken the phrase to be "helping him get on his feet," with the implication being that life has knocked him down figuratively, and in getting on his feet he is figuratively stable and able to function.

Don’t you work for the state? What is this conference all about anyway?

Actually, I don't work for the state, I work for the state... :) I work for a private company that is contracted with the state government to handle their website and online apps. So the state government is our (only) client, and our company exists solely to serve their online needs.

The company I work for in Utah is a subsidiary of NIC which has "portals" (companies) in 17 other states.

The conference is a "technical conference", where the employees and directors can get together, share ideas, pitch new initiatives, help problem solve, and talk about ways to further the company as a whole.

Ah, that cracks me up you are shacking up with the CEO :) You're story reminds me of when I started working at 3M. They flew us all to Reno for a week. Well, it's not quite the same I guess. It was my first week on the job so I didn't know anyone, I had my own room, but there was lots of drinking with open bars at every dinner.

Connor - quick tip - the water glass is a great cover for clear spirits. Gin, rum, vodka. You can avoid the appearance of evil, and yet, woohoo!

That's why I use water bottles, when possible. :)

Oh, and dude - you can eat at Wendy’s in Utah. There’s lots of them there. Try some authentic low country or southern food!

That's the reason we went to Wendys. The provided dinner that night was a "low country boil". Good sweet potatoes and corn, but not enough. Going to Wendys was just to fill our stomachs up a tad more. The melted frosty soup was especially nice. :::barf:::

Where are you from, Connor (exactly)?

Hint: read the header of my site.

he served his mission in the Arcadia, CA mission, north of where I’m from.

Where are you from, Connor (exactly)? My grandparents live in Arcadia. I, myself, am from Claremont--out in the inland empire, by Pomona, La Verne, and Upland.

South Carolina is a great state with nice historic sites. Hope you get a chance to see some while there.
